An explosion at the residence of former Sarpanch Jai Ram Sharma in the Ghagwal area of Samba district, Jammu and Kashmir, has prompted a major security response, officials said on Monday.
According to police sources,given the sensitivity of the incident, teams of the National Security Guard (NSG) commandos, a dog squad, and the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) rushed to the spot Experts have begun collecting evidence from the site, while the dog squad is conducting a thorough search of the surrounding areas.
Investigation is still on
Inspector General of Police, Jammu Zone, Bhim Sen Tuti also visited the spot to assess the situation and issued necessary directions to the concerned authorities. SSP Samba said that we have started investigation to it and we will provide more information after investigation.
SSP Varinder Singh says, “This is the ex-sarpanch, Jai Ram Sharma. At 1:07 AM, he informed the police that there was an explosion at his gate. The police are currently investigating. Once the investigation is complete, you will be informed.”
Initial reports indicate that there were no casualties in the blast, though the house suffered partial damage. Security forces have cordoned off the area and launched an extensive search operation.
Officials said investigations are underway from all angles to determine the nature of the explosion and those responsible.
It is pertinent to mention that the area is close to International Border।
