Samsung Galaxy S26 series AirDrop support now available, users in India will have to…

Samsung is bringing an Apple AirDrop-like experience to Galaxy phones through the new Quick Share feature.

Samsung has announced a new AirDrop-style sharing feature for the Galaxy S26 series, making file transfers easier through Quick Share. The rollout starts on March 23 in Korea, and will then expand to Europe, Hong Kong, Japan, Latin America, North America, Southeast Asia and Taiwan. India is not part of the first rollout wave, so users here will have to wait for a later expansion. The feature is currently limited to the Galaxy S26 lineup, with Samsung saying support for more devices will be announced later.

What is it?

In simple terms, Samsung is bringing support for Apple AirDrop to Galaxy phones through Quick Share. That means users can send photos, videos, documents and other files to nearby Android and Apple devices more quickly, without needing a messaging app or cable.

How it works

The feature works through Quick Share, Samsung’s existing file-sharing system. Once enabled, the phone can detect compatible nearby devices and allow users to send files wirelessly.

In most cases, the process is expected to be simple:
Open the file, tap Share, choose Quick Share, select the nearby device, and accept the transfer on the receiving device.

The system is meant to reduce friction in local sharing, especially for large files like videos, photo batches or documents.

Why India users may have to wait

Samsung has not yet included India in the first phase of availability. While the company has confirmed expansion across multiple regions, it has not announced a specific India rollout date so far. That suggests Indian users may get the feature in a later stage once the initial rollout is complete.

For Galaxy S26 users, the update could make device-to-device sharing much smoother. But for now, users in India will need to hold on until Samsung confirms the next round of regions.
