The announcement to delay the attack on Iran supported market sentiment today. Both Sensex and Nifty recorded a strong recovery following Donald Trump’s announcement. The Sensex rose by 1,372.06 points to close at 74,068.45, while the Nifty surged 399.75 points to end at 22,912.40. The rebound in the stock market was largely driven by gains in banking, auto, realty, metal, and power stocks. Meanwhile, the rupee traded weaker near 93.90, down 0.36 per cent, as ongoing tensions in West Asia and rising crude oil prices continued to weigh on sentiment. Higher oil prices are also worsening India’s import outlook.
