In a shocking incident that has left the local community reeling, a first-year law student in Punjab’s Tarn Taran district fatally shot his classmate before turning the gun on himself on Monday morning. While the female student died instantly, the accused was rushed to a hospital in critical condition. Disturbingly, the entire episode was captured on CCTV.
Victim and Accused Identified
Authorities have identified the victims as Sandeep Kaur, a resident of Naushehra Pannuan, and Prince Raj, a first-year student from Mallian village in Jalandhar district. Both were enrolled in a law college situated in Usma village, Tarn Taran.
Chilling CCTV Footage Reveals the Sequence of Events
The CCTV footage paints a horrifying picture of the moments leading up to the tragedy. Around 9:15 am, Prince Raj walked into the classroom and passed by Sandeep Kaur. She reportedly made a remark, which Raj ignored, prompting her to leave the room. Raj followed her, and a fellow student attempted to intervene.
Later, the footage shows a third classmate, apparently laughing, guiding Raj and Sandeep towards the back of the classroom. Kaur and another girl took a seat on the last bench, while Raj positioned himself in front of them. In a sudden and violent move, Kaur stood up just as Raj retrieved a pistol from his bag, turned, and shot her in the head. Immediately afterward, he took a few steps and shot himself.
The bystander, visibly shocked, initially fled but returned briefly to check on Kaur before escaping along with other classmates.

Police have confirmed that the motive behind the attack is still unclear. Both the accused and the victim were first-year students, and the incident has prompted a full-scale investigation. A case has been registered, and authorities are actively examining CCTV footage and interviewing witnesses to piece together what led to this tragic event.
