The Uttar Pradesh Government has announced a three-day holiday for the occasion of Holi, from March 2 to March 4 across state government offices. along with instructing the departments to release February salaries and pensions before the scheduled date to ensure the employees will get their salaries ahead of the festival.
This decision is going to benefit approximately 1.8 million teachers, employees, and pensioners across the state.
To ensure a smooth completion of the financial and administrative procedures and safeguard the distribution of salaries to all categories of employees before the festival, the government has declared February 28, 2026, as a working Saturday.
Eligible Beneficiaries
The early payment of pensions will benefit the government school teachers, Pensioners receiving state benefits, administrative staff in education departments, contract-based workers, sanitation workers, and other support staff.
The officials have been asked to strictly follow the orders so that the employees get their dues on time and the services are not affected during the festive season. Since there are close to 18 lakh government employees in Uttar Pradesh, this decision is being seen as a major administrative move to improve the welfare and morale of the employees during the festive season.
