Delhi Weather: Unseasonal rain in March has left many people surprised. Cool winds, cloudy skies and showers in several parts of north India felt more like winter than the start of summer. While many enjoyed the pleasant change, social media quickly filled with dramatic claims about the “real reason” behind the sudden weather shift.
Delhi weather: Bill Gates Viral Rain Claims
Over the past few days, posts on Instagram, Reddit and WhatsApp groups have suggested that the rain was not natural at all. Some users claimed it was the result of a “climate experiment” linked to Bill Gates. The theory points to something called “solar geoengineering” and suggests that artificial particles are being released into the atmosphere to control sunlight and temperature.
Several viral videos mentioned a project called SCoPEx and alleged that countries like India were being used for secret weather experiments. According to these posts, aircraft are spraying substances such as calcium carbonate into the sky to block sunlight and cool the planet. Some even claimed that private companies are now controlling the weather.
What Is The SCoPEx Project?
SCoPEx stands for Stratospheric Controlled Perturbation Experiment. It is a research project that was proposed by scientists at Harvard University. The idea behind it was to study whether releasing a very small amount of particles into the stratosphere could reflect some sunlight back into space and slightly reduce global temperatures.
However, this was only a research proposal, not a large-scale weather control plan. The project faced criticism and environmental concerns, and it did not move forward as originally planned. There is no evidence that it has been used to manipulate weather in India or anywhere else.
The Real Reason for Delhi-NCR Rain: Western Disturbance
According to weather experts, the recent rain and drop in temperature in Delhi-NCR and other parts of north India were caused by a Western Disturbance. This is a normal weather system that forms near the Mediterranean region and travels eastwards toward India.
When it reaches Afghanistan and Pakistan and then moves into north India, it brings moisture, clouds and cool winds. This often leads to rain, thunderstorms, hail and even snowfall in hilly areas.
Usually, Western Disturbances are more active during winter months, especially between December and February. This time, the system remained active into March, which is why many places experienced rain and cooler weather just as temperatures were beginning to rise.
Rumours Vs Facts
Meteorologists have clearly stated that the recent weather change was completely natural. There is no scientific evidence linking the rain to any artificial climate experiment.
Experts advise people to verify information before sharing it online. Weather patterns can sometimes behave differently from what we expect, but that does not mean they are man-made.
In this case, the cool March rain was simply the result of natural atmospheric processes — not a secret experiment.
