Noida International Airport update: The much-anticipated Noida International Airport (NIA) in Greater Noida is now ready to begin passenger operations. The airport is awaiting only the issuance of its Aerodrome license before it can be officially inaugurated and start commercial flights. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has already expressed the possibility of the Jewar airport’s inauguration this month.
Amid this, UP Chief Secretary SP Goyal has also shared a video of the Noida International Airport on X, showcasing everything from connectivity to the airport buildings. The first phase, spreading over about 1,300 hectares, was earlier slated to begin operations in September 2024. However, it faced delays, after missing multiple deadlines due to technical reasons. In the video shared by Goyal on Monday, February 9, the airport’s connectivity with the Yamuna Expressway and Delhi Mumbai Expressway, terminal building, air traffic control tower, runway, passenger launch, fuel station, parking etc. have been shown.
Sharing the video he wrote, “A short film on the latest status of construction activities at Noida International Airport, Jewar.”

Who all will benefit?
The Jewar airport will be Uttar Pradesh’s fifth international airport and is expected to be the largest in India once fully developed and operational. Delhi-NCR passengers will be the biggest beneficiaries, who currently rely on IGI airport to travel. The Noida Airport has been designed to ease pressure on Indira Gandhi International Airport and boost connectivity in the NCR, western Uttar Pradesh and neighbouring states.
Passengers from Western Uttar Pradesh and Haryana are set to benefit with the opening of this airport. Until now, people from Noida, Greater Noida, Ghaziabad, Bulandshahr, Aligarh, Agra, and Mathura had to travel to Delhi (IGI) to catch a flight. The opening of Jewar Airport will reduce travel time for people from these cities by 2 to 3 hours. It will also be a conveniently located airport for passengers from Faridabad and Palwal in Haryana.
