Former India all-rounder Irfan Pathan believes Punjab Kings (PBKS) are finally headed towards the right direction and this season of the Indian Premier League can be a breakthrough for them. He feels that the changes made in the team have strengthened their position and chances of ending their long wait to win the title.
Speaking at an event, Pathan mentioned that the team has a strong squad and leadership which has played a crucial role in team’s progress. PBKS has flourished under the captaincy of Shreyas Iyer. The team also proved to be the runners-up in the last season which indicates that the team has been doing all the things right.

“You win half the IPL matches at the auction. A big payday doesn’t always mean you get what you want, but they got it and reached the final,” he said.
Pathan also highlighted that the franchise also took some bold decisions to let go of big names like Glenn Maxwell and opted to build more balanced and effective squad. Now Shreyas Iyer and co will be focused on working on the minor loopholes and will be aiming to win IPL 2026.
