IND vs NZ: The buzz around the India vs New Zealand final of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup has gone through the roof. Cricket fans across the country are desperate to witness the title clash at the massive Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. But for most people, getting a ticket has turned into an impossible mission. Within minutes of going live, the seats for the March 8 final were gone and thousands of fans were left staring at the same message – Sold Out.
Why final tickets disappeared so fast
Tickets for the blockbuster clash between the India national cricket team and the New Zealand national cricket team were released through platforms like BookMyShow and the ICC’s official ticket portal. The response was insane. Fans rushed online the moment sales opened, and the entire inventory reportedly vanished within minutes.
The prices weren’t exactly cheap either. Basic stands started around Rs 2,000, while premium seats inside the stadium climbed to Rs 10,000 or more, even before taxes and convenience fees were added.
There is still a tiny bit of hope though. Sometimes “sponsor return tickets” appear online roughly a day before the match. But those are extremely limited and disappear just as quickly. For most fans, walking into the stadium now feels like a long shot.
The next best option: Watch it in theatres
If you missed out on stadium tickets, cinema halls across India are offering a surprisingly exciting alternative. Several theatres will broadcast the final live on giant screens, creating an atmosphere that feels very close to being inside a stadium.
Big cinema chains like PVR Cinemas, INOX Leisure Limited, and Miraj Cinemas are organising special screenings in multiple cities. Hundreds of fans gather inside the theatre, cheering every boundary and roaring at every wicket. During big moments, the noise level can feel just like a cricket ground.
A much cheaper experience
Another reason fans love this option is the price. Live screening tickets usually range between Rs 150 and Rs 1,500, depending on the theatre and seating category.
Compared to stadium seats that can cross Rs 10,000, it’s a far more affordable way to enjoy the final. Most theatres plan to begin the screening between 6:00 PM and 6:40 PM, giving fans enough time to grab snacks and settle in before the first ball at 7:00 PM IST.
A hidden advantage over stadium viewing
Watching the match in a theatre also solves a problem many stadium-goers face. During major games, mobile networks around stadiums often collapse because thousands of people try using their phones at the same time.
This World Cup relies on fully digital entry tickets, meaning fans must show their mobile tickets at the gate. If the signal drops, entry can become stressful.
Inside a cinema hall, though, everything is simple. Comfortable seats, Air-conditioning with crystal-clear giant screens and most importantly – no traffic chaos or long queues.
A final the whole world is waiting for
The stakes couldn’t be higher. India are chasing back-to-back T20 World Cup titles, something no team has ever achieved.
New Zealand, known for their calm and disciplined approach in big tournaments, will be determined to spoil the party. On March 8, one team will lift the trophy in front of a packed Ahmedabad crowd. And whether fans are inside the stadium or cheering inside a theatre, one thing is certain. The night promises unforgettable cricket.
