News24 has organised ‘Budget Manthan 2026’, inviting acclaimed academics, entrepreneurs, and political leaders to discuss the Union Budget 2026, unveiled on Sunday by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman.
The event was graced by Pawan Garg, CEO, UTL Solar. When asked about how The Budget 2026 will give a fiscal push towards rooftop solar adoption among middle-income households? He stated that the Budget delivers a strong fiscal boost to rooftop solar by allocating ₹22,000 crore to the PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana. The scheme seeks to make solar power more accessible to households through generous subsidies ranging from ₹60,000 to ₹78,000 for 2–3 kW systems, along with low-interest loans, promoting wider adoption and lowering electricity expenses for consumers.
The discussion highlighted the Union Budget 2026’s strong focus on promoting the use of renewable energy sources at the domestic level. With the allocation of significant financial resources and incentives under the PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana, the Union Budget has made rooftop solar power accessible to the middle class.
