New Delhi: Liverpool striker Darwin Nunez is seemingly understanding the game of The Reds as the younger footballer nets four goals against RB Leipzig at the Red Bull Arena on Thursday, July 21. Nunez’s goal in the second half of the game helped his side register 5-0 win over German side.
Mohamed Salah opened the scoring and Nunez added four more after the break. Fans have kept a close eye on Nunez, since joining from Benfica for an initial £64m, which could rise to a club record £85m with add-ons.
Darwin was guilty of missing clear chances against Manchester United and Crystal Palace, with some fans subsequently labeling him a “flop” on social media.
Mohamed Salah, the regular penalty taker, was still on the field, but rather than the Egyptian the ball was handed to the 23-year-old, who scored against the Leipzig substitute goalkeeper Janis Blaswich with a powerful strike.
The Uruguayan finished with composure after being played in by Trent Alexander-Arnold for his second and completed his hat-trick after tapping a Harvey Elliott cross from close range. Nunez wasn’t done he scored his 4th goal in the 90th minute with a curling low shot.
According to Jurgen Klopp, this was the “perfect night” for the striker.
“That’s the best way obviously to stop all these discussions. We always think that if you pay a lot of money then the players feel no pressure or whatever. They are all completely normal human beings and the first touch is not perfect then all of a sudden. This generation of players read social media, which is really not smart, but they do. All of a sudden you get in a rush and these kinds of things. He’s a different striker to what we have or what we had, but he’s a really good one. That’s of course a perfect night for him,” said Klopp in an interview.

“I think everybody is really happy for him and was looking for him (in the dressing room),” Liverpool defender Joel Matip told reporters.
The camp will conclude with a friendly against Leipzig’s sister club Red Bull Salzburg before Liverpool return home to prepare for the Community Shield against Man City next week.
