Because of a national fuel shortage and transport problems caused by tensions in the Middle East, Pakistan Super League 2026 has made big changes to its schedule. On Sunday, officials confirmed that matches will now be played without fans and will take place at only two stadiums.
The growing conflict in West Asia has caused several countries to warn against travel. This has also affected the PSL. The 11th season of the tournament will still start on 26th March as planned, but there will be new rules. To keep everyone safe and save resources, all matches will now be played only in Lahore and Karachi.
PSL 2026 was supposed to take place in six different cities and begin with a big opening ceremony. However, because of the current security situation and fuel crisis, organizers have canceled the ceremony. They also decided that all matches will be played in empty stadiums, so fans will not be allowed to watch the games in person.
What did PCB Chief Mohsin Naqvi say?
“Consultations regarding the Pakistan Super League had been ongoing for the past few days, including with the Prime Minister and the security agencies. The government has been advising people to limit movement due to the ongoing global fuel and economic situation,” Naqvi said at a press conference, as quoted by Cricbuzz.
“PSL is our international brand, and with foreign players involved, we had to consider our credibility as well. Postponing the tournament was not a viable option, especially since there is no available window later in the year. That is why, after consultations, it was decided that the PSL will begin on March 26,” he added.
PSL 2026 Revised Schedule –
At first, the PSL 2026 was supposed to be played in six different cities: Multan, Peshawar, Faisalabad, Karachi, Rawalpindi and Lahore. Under the new plan, all 44 matches will now take place in only two cities, Lahore and Karachi. Each city will host 22 games.
