French football legend Zinedine Zidane is all set to takeover as the head coach of France National Football Team as he succeeds Didier Deschamps according to a report by ESPN. A verbal agreement has been reached and the official appointment will be taking place at the end of 2026 World Cup.
“A player and a coach are two different jobs. At the end of a season on the bench, you are more tired than a player,” he had told GQ.
I remember that as a footballer, I was focused on my performance and that of the team. I only thought about being as good as possible to help my team,” Zidane said before adding, “The coach, on the other hand, is in charge of 23 guys and it never stops.”

Zidane’s legacy has been ordinary as both player and a manager. On the field he has won every major trophy and as a coach he scripted history with Real Madrid as he achieved remarkable success in just four seasons before he took a break.
In 2021 he left Madrid and Zidane focused on spending time with family and friends. He has openly mentioned that there is huge pressure and top level management is very demanding.
Sergio Ramos also praised Zidane and mentioned – ” Zidane is a great coach for many reasons, not least because he was one of the greatest players ever. He knows exactly how the players think, what they need, and how to boost their morale.”
