In a shocking incident, Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Rajkumar Rai was shot dead in Patna on Wednesday night. The incident occurred around 10 pm in lane number seventeen in front of Rajendra Nagar Terminal. Patna East SP Parichay Kumar stated that the accused were seen in CCTV footage and the police is investigating the case from all angles. Rai was politically active and was also involved in land dealings. After being shot, he somehow managed to get inside a nearby shop; however he died on the way to the hospital.

Patna East SP Parichay Kumar said, “A person was shot in lane number seventeen in front of Rajendra Nagar Terminal. His name is being told as Rajkumar alias Ala Rai. Accused seen in CCTV footage. There may be other culprits as well. It is being told that this person was politically active and he also used to buy and sell land. So we are investigating every angle. Our entire police team is engaged in investigating this incident. This incident happened around 10 PM…”

According to the police, Rajkumar Rai had just reached near his house in his car when the criminals who ambushed him started firing indiscriminately. After being shot, Rajkumar Rai managed to enter a nearby hotel to save his life, but the criminals followed him inside and fired several rounds in the hotel. One bullet also hit the hotel’s fridge, shattering its glass. As soon as the information about the incident was received, the police reached the spot and the injured Rai was immediately taken to PMCH, where doctors declared him dead. The police recovered 6 shells from the spot.
