Delhi-NCR on Tuesday morning experienced rainfall bringing a fresh wave of winter chill to the region. The showers, combined with dropping temperatures, have intensified the cold in the national capital. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert for Delhi-NCR today due to the influence of a Western Disturbance in the region.

According to the IMD, one or two spells of light rain accompanied by thunderstorm/lightning and gusty winds reaching 30–40 km/h are likely during the forenoon, with additional spells expected during the afternoon to night. The sky is expected to remain generally cloudy over the next seven days, except on January 29 and 31, when it may be partly cloudy. Shallow to moderate fog is also expected during morning hours from January 28 to February 2.
Rain, snow and hailstorm warning
A fresh wet spell is likely to affect north west India due to an active western disturbance. Fairly widespread rainfall and snowfall accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds reaching 40-50 kmph, gusting up to 60 kmph, is expected over Jammu, Kashmir Ladakh and Himachal Pradesh on January 27. Uttarakhand is also likely to receive significant precipitation. Isolated heavy rainfall or snowfall is expected over Jammu-Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand today. Isolated hailstorm activity is likely over Jammu-Kashmir.
